Our craft brewing scene is on fire! There are so many great places to choose from, each one with a unique atmosphere, vibe, and draft list. Beer lovers should plan a tour of Truckee’s five breweries and beer gardens to get a taste of all the unique brews.

This downtown brewery is a happening community hub with live music and events like trivia night, swing dancing, and restaurant pop-ups. Choose from 20 beers on tap as well as cider, wine, kombucha and non-alcoholic drinks. Along with a spacious taproom, there’s also a relaxing beer garden with heaters for chilly evenings.
Forest beer? Heck yes. The Good Wolf Brewing Company has taken a unique approach to craft brewing by using foraged ingredients like turkey tail mushrooms from the Tahoe National Forest. Each earthy beer on tap has its own story and the cozy taproom invites you to relax and stay awhile.
One of Truckee’s newer breweries tucked away in Pioneer Center, Truckee Brewing Company feels like stumbling upon a hidden gem. High-vaulted ceilings and local art give the intimate space a modern, welcoming vibe. But for a small space, the beer list is extensive and has something for every palette.
Craving a juicy BBQ burger with your drink? Check out 5050 Brewing Co., a pub and taproom just minutes from downtown Truckee. Their tasty food menu is packed with soups, salads, and sandwiches and tastes best when washed down with one of the many beers on tap. Ask about the Eclipse, an Imperial Stout aged in whiskey and spirit barrels for 3-12 months.
Ever heard of a pico-brewery? It’s smaller than a nano-brewery but don’t let the size steer you away. Donner Creek Brewing is a pico-brewery offering 2-3 of their own beers on tap as well as several other local favorites. They also have a menu of gourmet grilled cheese paninis, the perfect pairing with a crisp beer!

With a curated selection of new and old world wines, including California’s finest from the Sonoma and Napa region 3 hours away, a tasting stop at one of Truckee’s wine bars is a must-do for any vino lover. As Truckee’s first distillery in over 100 years, Old Trestle is bringing the science and art of distilling back to the Truckee-Tahoe region. Pure, clean mountain water is the secret ingredient of their craft spirits. Ask for their whiskey, gin and vodka at Truckee restaurants.
This chic wine bar in the heart of downtown Truckee has an extensive wine list with bottles from around the world and offers wine classes for those that want to learn from the experts. Join their wine club to get two hand-selected bottles each month.
Tucked away on Jibboom Street, just behind the bustling main street of downtown Truckee, The Pour House Wine Shop has a diverse selection of wines as well as a seasonal array of local cheeses. This wine bar features eclectic, small-batch, naturally made wines for every taste, occasion and budget.
Located in the heart of Brikelltown, one of the most iconic and beautiful buildings in town, The Krueger/White House was built in 1873 by Mr. Krueger and 14 Austrian craftsmen that is reflected in the beautiful Victorian Style of the building. Transformed many times during the 20th century, The Kreuger/White House now serves as the third location for RMU Outdoors offering unique craft cocktails, amazing food that is paired with an eclectic MTN Culture vibe showcasing RMU Skis, products, events, and focusing on environmental sustainability.
Located in the Truckee Hotel, established in 1873, the site of Moody's was once a major stagecoach stop on the Dutch Flat Wagon Road. Today, it's a popular stopover for foodies, musicians, and history lovers to enjoy great food and elegant cocktails in cozy atmosphere.
This iconic watering hole has been a staple of downtown Truckee since 1974, for nearly 50 years. It's history dates back to 1891, when it was a four story Victorian Hotel, transforming over the years to become the California Restaurant, a downtown bus station, Bank of America, and present day Bar of America.
At the turn of the century, Cottonwood was a small ski area with several rope tows and a Poma lift rising 700 vertical feet. The building itself has a storied past as one of the nation’s oldest ski lodges, hand built from salvaged railroad ties in 1928. Sit on the Hilltop deck and gaze out over downtown Truckee while sipping cocktails paired with elegant dishes.
California legalized the recreational use of cannabis in 2016 with Nevada following suit in 2017. Today, adults 21 and over can visit one of the nearby dispensaries in the Truckee-Tahoe region or order delivery from Truckee’s Winter Greens Delivery.
