The Alpenglow Sports Winter Speaker Series presented by North Tahoe Chamber is the largest free community speaker series in the country. They host the biggest names in the outdoor industry who share stories about outdoor adventure. They have two simple goals: 1) to inspire and motivate mountain athletes to pursue their outdoor dreams and 2) to raise funds for nonprofit organizations making a tangible difference in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee community.

Join us for special holiday evening hours on Feb. 14, 21 + 22, from 5:15-6:30PM for night tubing and sledding. Reservations are strongly recommended. North Lake Tahoe Snowfest is the largest winter mountain festival on the West Coast. This annual event celebrates the best of North Lake Tahoe by showcasing the relationships between the local community and the people who visit. Snowfest hosts more than 40 events each year - from ski town nightlife to outdoor family-friendly events.
Join TERC scientists for a fun, interactive on-the-mountain tour at Alpine in partnership with the US Forest Service. Do you love to ski/snowboard and science? This is a unique opportunity for you! Learn about the research and education of the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC), the environmental history of Alpine, and the role of the US Forest Service and public lands at Palisades Tahoe. This program happens at 1:00pm on Fridays beginning mid-February through the end of March. Tours will last approximately 1 hour. In the event that on-the-mountain tours are cancelled for inclement weather or unsafe snow conditions, the presentations will be alternatively available at 1:15pm inside the Alpine lodge.
Join a guided snowshoe tour to the Chalet at Alpine where you'll enjoy a four-course Bavarian-inspired meal. This dining adventure starts at Last Chair Bar in the base lodge with a hot glass of mulled wine. Once everyone checks in, we will begin our ascent to the Chalet. This 15-minute walk goes up a moderately pitched ski trail.
The Museum of Truckee History, in conjunction with the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District, is pleased to announce that plans are being finalized to revive the Truckee Winter Carnival. The free, family-friendly event will include old-time group photos, Rail Jam, snow sculpture making, ice skating, historical presentations and more. Please save the date. Show up and have some family fun!
Inspired by the world-famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race the Downhill Ski Resort holds its own “Ididarun” race to benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. The race includes four weight categories for sporting pups to pull a sled weighing 50% of their body weight across a snow-covered course. Each division will have a winner, with an overall racing champion. Check-in starts at 2PM and the race begins at 3PM. Cost: $35 per pup entry, spectating is free!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to wax your own skis? Wax guru Roger Chaney will be hosting hands-on ski wax clinics. When: Feb. 15 and March 8 from 3-5PM at the Cross Country Ski Center. Cost: $40 for members and $50 for the public.

The Annual Pain McShlonkey Classic coincides with International Snowblade Day to create an epic day where Shane fans around the world to get involved in this irreverently hilarious day. Join for the Hot Dog Downhill, awards, huge raffle, and more!
Don’t miss your chance to experience the thrilling sport of biathlon – skiing and shooting a laser rifle at a target – in a clinic led by professional athlete Gyongyver Ridenour, Jr. National Biathlon and Cross Country Ski Champion of Romania. Intermediate or advanced classic or skate skiers only (exploring blue trails).
The Mothership Classic is a pledge-driven event held each Spring on the world's greatest chairlift, KT-22. Participants begin by gathering pledges like a NASCAR racer chasing sponsorships. On the day of the event, each participant will challenge themselves to hot lap KT-22 as many times as possible from first chair to last on skinny skis, retro snowboards, mono-skis, snow blades, etc. Nostalgic ski attire is encouraged. Must raise $150 to participate.
Whether you're skimming the pond or observing from the sidelines, don't miss this legendary party. Live music, a pop-up bar, and a snow beach viewing area to watch the action. Will they make it...or will they slam?! Pond location is between Disney and Nob Hill Chairlifts, near the Village Lodge base area.
Ditch the ski jacket for a collared shirt and khakis: Alpine's Annual Snow Golf Tournament is back for its 39th year! As the only top-to-bottom snow golf course, this highly anticipated spring event is a unique way to spend a day on the slopes with friends and family. The ten-hole course starts at the top of Summit Express chair and meanders its way down the mountain with the last holes bringing competitors to The Chalet for a Caddyshack-themed afterparty.
Come out and make new friends, hang out, and enjoy spring vibes! There will be a DJ and a meetup area at Gold Coast all day plus a space to dace together during the Spring Tracks DJ show at KT base bar afterwards. Colorful clothing encouraged!
One of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the region, the free community event takes place at The Village at Palisades Tahoe from 11am-5pm and gives kids and adults the opportunity to learn about recycling, composting, alternative energy, and sustainability through hands-on activities the whole family can enjoy. This event is a community tradition to learn about sustainable products and services offered by local organizations and businesses, meet with local area nonprofits that share Earth Day values, as well as showcasing local entertainment. Our goal is to connect the community with the people and resources found in our region who foster innovation, initiate change and ultimately implement an equitable partnership for a green planet.
Solid Ground Pro at Sugar Bowl is an exciting new event created to inspire and empower the next generation of ski and snowboard athletes. Set against the stunning backdrop of Donner Summit, this multi-day gathering combines networking, personal growth, and a celebration of athletic achievement.
The 33rd Annual Cushing Crossing is the best event of the spring season. The original pond skimming contest is tentatively scheduled for May 3rd, 2025 at 1pm*. Join in on the fun, watch big spills, and share some much-needed laughs with our celebrity judges and 2 of the best emcees around. Costumes are highly encouraged! The awards ceremony will immediately follow the event at Cushing Pond. Each category winner will win prizes from our sponsors: Yeti, Smith, Dakine, and Darn Tough. Official prize details coming soon!

Welcome to the second annual Truckee Pride Week, a celebration of diversity, inclusivity, and love in our mountain town, happening June 1st-7th, 2025! Truckee Pride is a grassroots organization working to make Truckee a diverse and welcoming place for people of all genders and sexual orientations. In celebration of and in alliance with the LGBTQIA2S+ community, a week-long series of events, activities, and gatherings will take place in the town of Truckee and the surrounding area.

Join every Saturday night from February 1 to March 29 for a diverse musical lineup and delicious food that will ensure something for every family member.
The Latitude 39 Festival is back for the third year in a row! LONESTAR is country royalty and we are honored to have them at the rodeo grounds this year. After 30 years together, Lonestar has earned 10 #1 songs like “My Front Porch Looking In,” “Amazed,” “I’m Already There” and SO many more. Their high energy show is the soundtrack to every country music fan’s life! Also joining them this year, a Latitude39 tradition, are our friends Mark Mackay and CJ Solar. The event starts at 5PM and there will be food trucks and multiple bars on site.
The Futures Tour is a stepping stone between USASA regional competitions and US Ski & Snowboard FIS national-level events. It is designed for athletes who have reached the top of the USASA National Championships.

Sunday, March 16th you can plan on The Bronze/Silver/Gold Rush Race.On Saturday, March 15th, join us for a day of fun races, terrain park, vendors, wax demos, a "ski-pull" (ever been to a tractor pull?), music on the deck and all-around fun, it is the Gold Rush FESTIVAL after all!
Ski-touring enthusiasts rack up as many human-powered laps to the top of Mount Lincoln as they can in a day.
The Lake Tahoe Basin’s premier SkiMo competition and an incredibly family-friendly event. Competitors race to the top of the mountain using whatever human-powered method you prefer – skins, snowshoes, running shoes, etc. – then ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or run back down to the finish line. For those of a less competitive nature, a recreational course to mid-mountain is available. The event will also include activities in the base area including uphill demos, a DJ and awards ceremony in the Loft Bar! Then, the fun continues with a winter-wildlife snowshoe hike Sunday morning.
Watch the top competitors from each division in moguls, dual moguls, and aerials. This event will take place on Red Dog Face at Palisades.
This innovative freeride competition, inspired by the original Silver Belt Classic of the 1940's, blends natural terrain with man-made features in the famed Silver Belt Gully. Qualify to compete.

Truckee Gravel offers three epic route options, ranging from 30 to over 100 miles, each showcasing the beauty of Truckee and beyond. Kicking off in our mountain town, the race winds north into the rugged expanse of Tahoe National Forest.
Riders will tackle long stretches of well-maintained gravel and dirt roads, with occasional pavement and an exciting touch of singletrack at the finish. The extended long course takes you all the way to Sierraville, with a breathtaking climb to the summit of Yuba Pass.
The Barracuda Championship is operated by the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Mission of the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation is to leverage the highest ideals of golf to inspire and transform our community and environment.
As only one of a handful of cities to have the opportunity to host a PGA TOUR event, the Barracuda Championship held July 14- July 20, welcomes 156 professional golfers (106 PGA TOUR professionals and 50 DP World Tour professionals) to our beautiful town as they compete for their share of a $3.8 million purse and 300 FedExCup points. With the support of sponsors and volunteers, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation has raised over $5 million to-date for deserving nonprofit organizations. Located just five minutes from Downtown Truckee on the east end of Donner Lake, Donner Memorial State Park is open year-round and offers weekly, drop-in interpretive programs where you can learn about the natural and cultural history of the Truckee-Tahoe region. In the winter, check out their guided snowshoe tours, and in the summer, they offer guided paddling tours, mountain bike tours, junior ranger programs, historical tours, campfire talks, and park cleanups.
