Introducing a fierce new challenge for mountain runners: Mountain Tiger Donner Summit is an 11-mile, point-to-point trail race featuring four epic summits, stunning Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge views, and 3,300 feet of elevation gain. Perfect for those craving a hard mountain run without the ultramarathon commitment. The race kicks off at 8am and includes shuttle transport, post-race food and drink, a killer raffle (hello, Pit Viper and The North Face), and a unique finisher’s item. Registration closes July 20 — no refunds, but 2026 rollovers are in!
Dive into one of California’s most scenic and enduring endurance events! The 43rd Annual Donner Lake Triathlon returns to Truckee’s West End Beach for a weekend of multisport excitement. Whether you're a seasoned triathlete or a first-timer, there's a race for everyone: Sprint, Olympic, Half, Duathlon, Aquabike, and a non-competitive Kids Triathlon. Participants will swim in the clear waters of Donner Lake, bike through challenging mountain terrain, and run along picturesque lakeside routes. The event also features an expo, live music, and post-race festivities. Proceeds support Clean Up The Lake, promoting environmental stewardship of Donner Lake.

Swing by the Village at Northstar to enjoy live music seven nights a week this summer. Music will be held on the patio at Rubicon Pizza Monday – Thursday from 5–8pm, and on the Skate Rink stage from 5–8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 4:30–7:30pm on Sundays. New for this season, don’t miss the Saturday Skate Nights, where each week a different themed band will light up the skate rink for an evening of live music as you skate and boogie the night away. Costumes encouraged!

Get ready for Bluesdays, a beloved summer tradition in the heart of Palisades Tahoe! Every Tuesday evening over summer, The Village at Palisades Tahoe comes alive with the soulful sounds of free live blues music, creating the perfect mountain atmosphere to unwind after a day of adventure.
Truckee Thursdays is a feel-good event that beckons the community to enjoy some exuberant downtown summertime energy. Offering live music, licensed alcohol area, food court with local food trucks and vendors, children’s activities, and a wide variety of artisan vendors. It’s no wonder this lively weekly event is on both locals’ and visitors’ must-do list. In addition, attendees will find sidewalk sales and other activities hosted by Historic Downtown merchants. Event Hours are 5pm to 9pm.

The Truckee Music Fest is bringing two epic days of live music to Riverview Sports Park! This family-friendly festival features major headliners in an outdoor setting. On Friday night, catch global pop sensation Jason Derulo, plus performances by Local Anthology and The Haze. Saturday turns up the volume with X Ambassadors, Sugar Ray, The Knocks, Gloomy June, and Black Sunshine. This all-ages event includes food, drinks, and local vendors. Get ready for an unforgettable weekend of music in the mountains!
The Olympic Valley Half Marathon and 8 Miler start and finish at the iconic Village at Palisades Tahoe, site of the historic 1960 Winter Olympics. The course is fast and flat, a scenic out-and-back featuring mainly paved trail through the valley and along the Truckee River. During the route, keep an eye out for bald eagles, mule deer, and trout leaping out of the river all while enjoying the cool, refreshing Sierra air. You will be supported by plenty of aid stations along the course which will have water, electrolyte beverages and a variety of fruit and snacks. Don't miss this "Bucket List" Half Marathon and 8-Miler!
The Broken Arrow Skyrace features eight distances: a 46k, 23k, Vertical K, 18k, 11k, Triple Crown (Vk/23k/46k), the Iron Crown (IFC/23k/46k), the Iron Face Challenge, and a kids race. These races are unique in California as most of the terrain is above tree line. Runners will be treated to spectacular views of Lake Tahoe’s emerald-blue waters and Palisade Tahoe's unmistakable high-alpine terrain. Elite and recreational participants will run and then celebrate together with first-class food, craft beer, music, seminars, films and fun activities for the whole family.
We're excited to announce that registration is now open for TrailCon, slated for June 24-25, 2025 at Palisades Tahoe. This new and exciting two-day celebration of trail and ultra running draws attendees from across the globe to North Lake Tahoe, and is strategically placed between two iconic races, the Broken Arrow Skyrace and the heralded Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run. TrailCon is the literal "heartbeat of the sport" and showcases 20+ panels, a famous keynote speaker, a new Trail Running Hall of Fame Ceremony, a consumer-facing vendor village/exposition, brand activations and more. TrailCon is entirely free to attend.
Truckee Gravel offers three epic route options, ranging from 30 to over 100 miles, each showcasing the beauty of Truckee and beyond. Kicking off in our mountain town, the race winds north into the rugged expanse of Tahoe National Forest.
Riders will tackle long stretches of well-maintained gravel and dirt roads, with occasional pavement and an exciting touch of singletrack at the finish. The extended long course takes you all the way to Sierraville, with a breathtaking climb to the summit of Yuba Pass.
The Western States ® 100-Mile Endurance Run is the world’s oldest 100 mile trail race. The Run starts in Olympic Valley, California, near the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, and ends 100.2 miles later in Auburn, California. In the decades since its inception in 1974, Western States has come to represent one of the ultimate endurance tests in the world.
The Barracuda Championship is operated by the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Mission of the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation is to leverage the highest ideals of golf to inspire and transform our community and environment.
As only one of a handful of cities to have the opportunity to host a PGA TOUR event, the Barracuda Championship held July 14- July 20, welcomes 156 professional golfers (106 PGA TOUR professionals and 50 DP World Tour professionals) to our beautiful town as they compete for their share of a $3.8 million purse and 300 FedExCup points. With the support of sponsors and volunteers, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation has raised over $5 million to-date for deserving nonprofit organizations. Located just five minutes from Downtown Truckee on the east end of Donner Lake, Donner Memorial State Park is open year-round and offers weekly, drop-in interpretive programs where you can learn about the natural and cultural history of the Truckee-Tahoe region. In the winter, check out their guided snowshoe tours, and in the summer, they offer guided paddling tours, mountain bike tours, junior ranger programs, historical tours, campfire talks, and park cleanups.

Explore the history of the area and the people who came into this part of the Sierra, including local Native Americans, the Donner Party, and builders of the transcontinental railroad. Visitors can expect to spend about one hour exploring exhibits.
